It’s safe to say I’ve had an impromptu break from blogging the last few weeks - as amazing as they have been (highlights include trips to Vienna and Berlin) I haven’t had the time to spend on here but now I’m back with some exciting plans for 2019 including Sustainably Simple’s 2nd birthday 🎂... watch this space 🤗
Hope you are all enjoying the Christmas break 🎄 I’d love to know whether you received any sustainable gifts?! Here I am looking rather happy with my Secret Santa book ‘Sustainable Home’ by @snapshotsofsimplicity (thanks @deviajeenviaje.blog 😊) Also got some @veja trainers yippee and an @insaneintherain anorak - made from plastic water bottles!
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life 💫 I tried furoshiki for the first time this year... not bad for my first attempt! Thank you @folds.wrap for sending this lovely sample of your blush pink fabric 💗 Furoshiki is the traditional Japanese art of wrapping cloth which embraces eco-friendly living because the cloth can be re-used again and again to wrap gifts! My only question ... if you’re giving this gift away then how do you ask for the cloth back after 🤣
The countdown to Christmas has officially begun 🙌🏼 Would love to know what you’re doing this year to celebrate more sustainably? I took lots of inspiration from Etsy’s The Good Store pop up last month with @kate_arnell @theseagull and @littlebeausheep - we discussed everything from eco wrapping to ethical shopping 🛍
The perfect bag to carry you through the party season 💃🏼 Love that this clutch from @oxfamgb not only looks the part but is made with recycled saris by a group of Indian artisans under fair trade conditions 👌🏼 Just one of many of the lovely gifts you can find on Oxfam’s online shop 😍 You can find my full list of ethical stores for Christmas shopping online over on the blog.
