20 Instagram Accounts for Sustainable Living

For many of us today, Instagram has become a second world of mindless escape. But what if those fast fashion ads and quick beauty fixes were replaced by meaningful messages and tips for sustainable living.

I started Sustainably Simple 3 years ago and it’s been amazing to see an influx of brands and bloggers appear alongside me in such a short space of time. Now I want to share my favourites so that you can benefit from their inspiring posts and captions too!

1. Yuhme

Yuhme water bottles are made from sugar cane and provide 3 months of clean water to communities in the Central African Republic. I love following this account for their eco-facts and motivational quotes.

2. By Rotation

By Rotation is the UK’s first peer-to-peer fashion rental app so that you can buy what you need and lend what you don’t! Follow them for the best in sustainable style inspiration.

3. Know The Origin

Know The Origin sell honest, transparent and sustainable brands all in one place. Their instagram feed showcases these brands and tells the stories behind them.

4. Curiously Conscious

Besma is a sustainable fashion and lifestyle blogger who shares inspiration for living more sustainably. She also founded Ethical Influencers which supports sustainable brands and bloggers.

5. Ocean Bottle

Ocean Bottle fund the collection of plastic and help reduce poverty through plastic deposit schemes. Follow them to learn more about this water bottle brand and the plastic pollution crisis.

6. Hubbub

Hubbub provides daily inspiration for healthier and greener living through creative campaigns that you can find on their instagram.

7. Less Waste Laura

Laura is an environmental scientist and climate activist who strives to live a zero waste life. Follow her journey on instagram for the best zero waste tips and tricks.

8. The Good Life Aint Easy

Rachel posts updates from her allotment where she grows all sorts of amazing fruits and vegetables alongside with her ex-battery chickens.

9. Folds Wrap

This is the account to follow for zero waste gift wrapping inspiration! Folds Wrap sell sustainable and reusable fabric gift wrap in a gorgeous range of subtle hues.

10. Content Beauty

Content Beauty is a sustainable living store in Marylebone. Their instagram account showcases the latest and greatest fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands.

11. Mrs Press

Clare Press is the first Sustainability Editor at Vogue. I love following Clare to stay updated on the latest in sustainable fashion. I recommend listening to her podcast Wardrobe Crisis too.

12. Melissa Hemsley

Melissa Hemsley is a passionate advocate for eating sustainably by reducing waste and choosing better ingredients. Her page is full of sustainable recipes to try at home.

13. Take 3 For The Sea

Take 3 For The Sea shares images of plastic pollution from across the world and recommends taking 3 pieces of rubbish away with you every time you visit the beach.

14. Riverford Field Kitchen

Riverford is a collection of organic vegetable farmers. A great account for its down-to-earth updates from the farm and delicious seasonal recipes.

15. Going Zero Waste

Kathryn Kellogg is a climate activist and author of 101 Ways To Go Zero Waste so she really is the expert when it comes to zero waste tips.

16. Too Good To Go

Too Good To Go is an app that rescues unsold food in the fight against food waste. Follow their page for ways to use up leftover ingredients.

17. Honey and Roots

Lilo is a sustainable lifestyle blogger based in Oslo and London. Focused on sustainable food and beauty, follow Honey & Roots to brighten your feed with Lilo’s beautiful photography.

18. Fashion Revolution

Fashion Revolution is a global movement calling for greater transparency in the fashion industry. Constantly asking #WhoMadeMyClothes they’re demanding answers to fashion’s hidden supply chains.

19. Miss Emily Penn

Emily Penn is an ocean advocate and skipper who co-founded Exxpedition, an all women sailing crew to better understand the plastic pollution crisis.

20. Sustainably Simple
